Lisa Wiggins is the librarian at NSU Elementary Lab School.  She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and made Natchitoches her home after attending Northwestern State University for an undergraduate degree in Education and Masters Degree in Education from Louisiana State University that certify her as a teacher for grades kindergarten through 8th grade, school librarian, school counselor, and supervisor of student teaching. 


She is an advocate for healthy living and promotes this through her curriculum at NSU Elementary Lab School’s many programs.  She established the school’s garden and uses this to teach the core curriculum as well as introduce students to healthy foods and how they get to the table.  She was the 2011 Ag in the Classroom teacher of the year for her use of promoting agriculture in the classroom.  She also has received many grants from around the country to support the school garden.  Physical activity is also an important part of her life and promotes her passion by acting as a coach for the school’s running club and assists with teaching p.e. to all classes.  She is also the 4-H sponsor and coordinator for multiple service projects and collections throughout the year in efforts to support and teach students the importance of lending a helping hand and giving back.  Directing the school’s Christmas Program and Veterans Day program are also important projects she uses as means to develop character and talents among her students.


Lisa Wiggins has been married to Van Wiggins for the past 24 years and together they have 5 children, Kathryn 21, Nicholas 20, Thomas 17, Daniel 13, and Victoria 11.   They delight in watching these children share their passion for sports and activity as they support and coach their various baseball, basketball, soccer, dance, cheer, fishing, and 4-H activities.
